LG Display - The production of thin film (TFT) LCD panels

LG Display Company announced the development of technology for web press (roll-printing) in the production of thin film (TFT) LCD panels, designed to replace Wafers. Unlike the latter, requiring a solid set of expensive equipment and different tedious multi-stage process of causing drawing on the surface of the glass substrate, new technology, idea for the developers, would perform all the necessary processes simultaneously.
It is expected that the technology web markedly reduce the cost of printing materials spent in the process of producing TFT-screens, the size of investment in equipment and in the creation of a “clean room”. It also will reduce production at one time LCD panel. In addition, the technology to respect the environment, since significantly reduces the number used in the manufacture of harmful chemicals.
Recall that LG Display web printing technology introduced in the production of colour filters at the end of 2005. Now it is the first among manufacturers suggested using this technology in the production of TFT-LCD screens. The company plans to submit details of new technology at the conference SID (Society of Information Display), which starts May 20 in Los Angeles (California).
