In seeking to enhance the effectiveness of the data center (SAC), IBM turned to the form of a classic, offering components in the form of standard-size blocks. According to the company, built on the basis of such “cubes” SAC will be twice as less power consumption compared with existing computing centers.

New solutions have been developed as part of the overall initiative Project Big Green, IBM declared last year and aimed at reducing energy consumption from server systems. These statistics argue that the share of SAC in global energy consumption now stands at 2%, and this figure reflects the need for an objective in introducing “green” technologies in this segment.

After reviewing the design and construction of SAC over the past 20 years, IBM has concluded that they almost have not changed in that time, and hence, the construction of computer centers using standardized components will be beneficial for customers investing in the future. Ruler of the Enterprise Modular Data Center include the bulk of the necessary infrastructure to allow SAC to build a square 460-1800 sq.m.

These solutions are rather new to the case of SAC, and for upgrading existing centres IBM offers a relatively compact  Configuration rack in containers (there instantly recall the Sun with its Blackbox). Those, acting on the territory of SAC can be quickly arranged for an independent “zone of high density computing”.
