The first three places established systems for companies IBM (Roadrunner, BlueGene / L, BlueGene / P processor-based IBM Power6, Cell and AMD Opteron), and fourth and fifth position occupied computers Ranger and Jaguar, equipped with quad-processor AMD Opteron.
Despite the fact that systems based on Intel was unable to break into the leaders, their presence in the TOP500 ranking does not remain unnoticed. Xeon chips are most popular among collectors supercomputing. Judge for yourselves, 116 out of 500 computers represented in the list, or 23.2% equipped with a series of processors Intel Xeon E54xx (Harpertown). The second position in this ranking took chips Xeon 53xx (Clovertown) with an impressive result of 92 (or 18.4% of the total). Third place also belonged to produce Intel - based systems Xeon 51xx (Woodcrest), there are 91 (18.2%).
Other interesting statistical facts:
- Total systems based on Intel in the rating TOP500 there are 375 (75%). In the previous edition of the list, there were 354 (70.8%);
- Systems based on AMD Opteron, there are 56 (11%), which at 22 is less than six months ago;
- 283 supercomputer, that is, more than half use the Quad processors.
