Intel plans to launch three models quad Nehalem-processors (Bloomfield) at the end of this year to the new socket LGA1366. While processors have not given official names, but know their code names: CPUs XE, P1 and MS3 with a clock frequency 3.2 GHz, 2.93 GHz and 2.66 GHz respectively. Each of them consumes 130 W, has 8 MB cache and the third level will support simultaneous multithreading (simultaneous multi-threading, SMT).
To support these processors will also be running a combination of X58 chipsets and ICH10. The new platform is expected to increase productivity at 15-30% compared with the current generation. Chipset receive X58 architecture QuickPath Interconnect (QPI), comes the replacement bus Front side bus (FSB). The new platform also will have a 4-slot PCI Express 8x and support technology AMD Quad CrossFireX.
Also, after Intel upgrade its production line will reduce Core 2 Extreme QX6850 and 6800 after July this year. A model of high-performance processor Q9550 Quad Q9650 and this fate awaits in the first quarter of 2009. In doing so, Yorkfield-Xeon processors will be the main striking force in the consumer segment before the end of 2009.
As previously reported, Intel had planned to begin mass production of dual-core processors already Atom 330 in July, but it became known that because of the deficit at uninuclear versions of the launch is delayed until September, the exact plans will be announced in August.
