The company MERLION Projects, a system integrator specializing in the implementation of IT infrastructure solutions, reported first in the region EMEA successful industrial installation of the operating system Solaris 10 for x86 blade servers DELL PE M600 and DELL PE M605 in the new chassis M1000e processor Intel. The project has been realized through the modernization of SAC Group (CG) «PIK», Russia’s largest developer of residential property. Joint project team consisted of specialists MERLION Projects, GK «PIK» and the Irish Innovation Center solutions DELL. The work was carried out in the innovation center of DELL (DELL Solutions Innovation-Centre) in the city of Limerick (Ireland).

The main objectives of the project have been cheaper cost of upgrading and expanding its DSC functionality for specific applications business tasks based on microprocessors Intel. Earlier in the SAC used excellent proven, but still relatively expensive bundle for the Solaris equipment Fujitsu-Siemens based on the RISC-processor SPARC. In the experiment was carried out testing capabilities of software Altiris Deployment Solution for the deployment of nodes that are running Solaris 10 x86. Tested well as the interaction of the Solaris Operating System with storage systems Dell-EMC Clariion CX3-40c and DELL EqualLogic PS5000X channel iSCSI and FC through the built-communication infrastructure blade chassis associated with the aggregate bandwidth and reliability of communication. An important outcome of the experiment was successfully carried out a formal announcement of DELL’s support for the Solaris servers DELL.
